Step 3: Create a GCP project

Apigee Hybrid requires that you have a GCP project. After you create an account, you can create a new GCP project or use an existing GCP project that you already own.

Apigee binds the project to an Apigee organization in a process called provisioning. Once bound, you can manage users and roles with the GCP Console while developing, deploying, and analyzing your API proxies with the Hybrid UI. For more information about organizations, see Terminology.

This section describes how to create a new GCP project. If you want to use an existing GCP project (of which you are an owner) with Hybrid, skip to Step 4: Request Hybrid provisioning.

To create a new GCP project:

  1. Open the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Console and log in with the account you created in Step 1: Create a GCP account.

  2. Click the Project Selector at the top of the view.

The Project Selector dialog box displays:

  3. Click New Project in the upper right.

    The New Project view displays.

  4. Enter a friendly name for your project in the Project name field.

GCP generates a corresponding project ID below the Project name field, as the following example shows:

You will use the Project ID later in this setup process.

  5. Select a folder for your project in the Location field. Folders are an optional part of the GCP project resource tree.

  6. Click Create.

    GCP creates your new project.
