As a managed SaaS platform backed by Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Apigee Edge Cloud handles all underlying infrastructure operations. To ensure platform security and integrity, specific internal configurations and architectural details are not externally disclosed. While Google manages and abstracts these elements, you can proactively submit capacity management requests to ensure your environment is prepared for expected traffic surges.
Although Apigee Edge Cloud scales automatically, sudden spikes in traffic or payload size often triggered by holiday sales or planned promotions may require "pre-warming" the environment. To ensure readiness, we recommend performing load tests and sharing the results with Google to coordinate pre-warming as needed.
| Service request description | Can I do this myself? | How to perform this operation? |

Guidelines for raising an Infrastructure Capacity Management request
Before raising the request, follow these guidelines to ensure that your Apigee Edge Cloud organization will have sufficient capacity during the time period when the traffic volumes are expected to increase.
- Estimate the maximum traffic volume expected during the time period along with the maximum payload.
- Perform the stress/load testing on your API proxies with the estimated maximum volume of traffic and payload. Resolve any issues observed during the testing.
- Raise a service request with the following details:
- Details of the event with dates when the higher traffic volume is expected.
- The maximum traffic volume and payload size expected.
- References to any previous support tickets when the load/stress testing was performed.
- Any other details which Support needs to be aware of.
