SMTP failed to send If you created a Beta portal and configured custom SMTP settings anytime after Release 18.12.18.00, your user account creation process would fail. In this case, the identity provider server was unable to communicate with your custom SMTP server due to data corruption. This issue has been fixed; the data now gets stored correctly so the identity provider server can communicate properly with the SMTP server. In addition, the "from" address for users who had custom SMTP settings was not propertly overriden. If the SMTP server had validation on the SMTP from address, the emails would fail to verify and send. The SMTP from address is now overridden on all users with custom SMTP settings. |

Istio services support for API products
A new Istio Services field has been added to the API Products UI. Use this field to enter one or more Istio service names to bind to the API product. A service name is a unique identifier for the service that you are binding.
For example: helloworld.default.svc.cluster.local
. Binding associates a service deployed to an Istio service mesh with the API product.
You use this feature when configuring the Apigee Adapter for Istio, which is scheduled to be released soon. (792099230)

Release 18.01.16.00
Apigee is aware of a recently disclosed vulnerability known as CVE-2017-5754 (Meltdown) that has existed for awhile in processor architectures from Intel, AMD and ARM. This release patches the underlying Apigee Edge portal and specification store infrastructure to guard against exploits.
Note: Based on our analysis, we have determined that Apigee Edge runtime and management services are not directly affected by this vulnerability. However, given its serious nature, we have decided to patch all our systems. No customer action is required and we do not expect the maintenance activities to cause interruption to the Apigee services.

API key rotation for apps
The concept of current and deprecated application API keys has been added to the portal.
On the My Apps page of the portal, the most recently added API key for an app is considered to be the current key and all other keys are considered and marked as deprecated in the API keys list. The Products list displays the list of API products assigned to the current API key. To minimize the number of API keys displayed, a Keys history link is provided to display all deprecated keys.
The API key actions menu has been added in the Keys list with the following two options:

Rotate | Create a new API key with the same API product entitlements as the original key. The original API key is marked as deprecated. This menu item is enabled for the current key only. |
Deactivate | Deactivate the selected API key and prevent its credentials from being accepted. This menu item is enabled only for API keys that are active (status is approved) and deprecated. |

SMTP email configuration
